Steena is a writer, avid reader, and life-long dreamer. She lives in Texas with her family, and she's a devoted mom of two energetic children. Having performed as a singer and dancer most of her life, has influenced her to write. Through performance, she's always been a storyteller at heart. While on tour as a vocalist with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and RENT the Broadway Tour, she kept a journal. She turned some of her adventures into stories, and she's been writing children's stories ever since. She continues to draw from her experiences, blending her proud Mexican American culture and deep family connections.
She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Texas Tech University, and has taught Theatre Arts in middle school and high school. She's an active member of SCBWI, and Julie Hedlund's 12x12 Picture Book Challenge. She has poems and short stories published in Highlights High Five Magazine and Little Thoughts Press Magazine. In 2022, Steena was a winner of author Vivian Kirkfield's 50 Precious Words Contest, and was a PBParty Honorable Mention.
